A web search turns up a ton of articles Mint and Veracrypt.

My own inclination would be to install the most recent stable release.

This thread from the Mint forums might be helpful: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=275495

The best idea is to run the latest version possible. That being said, you probably want to install it as a dpkg (.deb). I build a Debian-10 based version of VeraCrypt in my OBS (roughly similar to a PPA like for Ubuntu). Can you see if it installs in Mint? https://software.opensuse.org//downl...kage=veracrypt
