Great!

My sincere thanks for enabling this, but see below....

Bitcoin is hugely useful but your links reference third-party processors or "middle-men".

Bitcoin wants to cut out the "middle-men", who take their cuts from all your financial transactions:

In your links, Paypal and/or bitpay.com take their cuts. Like banks, visa, and MC do with conventional currency.

This is not necessary, needed or desired.

If you just posted a bitcoin address you have generated for yourself, eg

1DLkGPiQgqZiCKSfZx77NUJ8rKx3vo5D2v

I can / we could just send you the "money" or "bitcoin" directly to that address. The "middle-man", PayPal, visa, whatever, is no longer needed.

Too much fun?

Too right.

Post a BTC address of your own to this thread and I'll happily send you $10 equivalent in BTC for the upkeep of LQ.

That way you'll get ALL of my donation. No fees to middle-men.

Try it. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Compare this mindset with 'linux' 15y ago.

Thanks for the feedback. While we could utilize bitcoin directly, it wouldn't integrate with the rest of the system the way Bitpay currently does (and we'd also need to manually deal with BTC, while Bitpay converts to USD automatically). That said, Bitpay is 100% free of fees for less than 30 transactions a month. If we ever come remotely close to hitting that threshold, I'll certainly look into a direct bitcoin setup.

Not BitPay

Hi Jeremy
I'd like to donate to LQ but do not wish to use BitPay, do you have a Bitcoin address?
