Guys, this is just going to spiral between you if you don't stop reporting each other's posts and start cutting each other some slack.

Could you not call some sort of truce or at least just avoid each other for a while?

Remember, we're supposed to be helping folk here. That should be our focus.

While I understand your point hydrurga, and in most other cases would agree with you; I don't think the issue is being understood properly.

I've tried at least a few times now to try and broker some piece, ondoho continues to antagonise me, which is exactly why he kept defacing my username. I'm sorry, but jsbjsb0000 implys I'm nothing and is quite insulting. I've already discussed this directly with Jeremy. If he continues the same pattern, then I have no problem reporting each and every one of his posts that serve to antagonise.

Not to mention that, he has falsely accused me of reporting him recently, which I have not. I reported that post over 4 months ago now and spoke to Jeremy some months ago now - you can ask him if you wish.

ondoho, is the one that needs to forgot the grudge he has against me. He also really needs to learn that telling the forum his opinion of myself (or others) helps no-one. Even Jeremy has told him here (which I did NOT report BTW) that too, so it's not just me saying it. He needs to just focus on the topic at hand in technical threads.

I stand by what I said.

A couple comments:

* In this case the OP reported multiple posts in the thread yesterday. It's likely the mod did not see the date and was simply responding to the report. I've removed the resulting infraction for both members. I've also asked the mod to be more diligent.
* That said, the continued public bickering is not acceptable. Please refrain from it moving forward. We have an ignore member feature that you're both welcome to use. If you choose not to use it, posts directed at each other and not on-topic will not be tolerated.

I haven't read this whole thread, but just wanted to say thanks Jeremy for the forum. I've run a few forums of my own, but none as popular as this one, and I know it's a lot of work. A place like this makes it much easier for people to learn from others, and I'm just glad it hasn't been shut down.

Since switching my home computer to Ubuntu a few weeks ago, I've had a lot more questions that I have had in the last 19 years running servers. I search the net for my questions, and more than half of the answers are here in this forum.

Jeremy is correct that I saw a thread report and acted without noting the dates of the posts.

It is rather unusual for a report like that to be about a 5 month old thread. My apologies for not being more diligent with noticing. Jeremy has removed the warnings and I fully concur with this.

Meanwhile Hydrurga and Jeremy do have a point about interraction between members.

If there are fewer back and forth, reaction posts between you two, things would certainly be a lot easier.

Polite help is very much welcome.

Sarcastic posts, or cross statements made to bad OP's or in reply to your fellow members are not helpful at all within technical threads.

i am the OP of this thread and i made only one (1) report in the past weeks (!), and that was yesterday, against rtmistler's report.

which means that this statement:

is false and distorted.

however
did you mean that the op of this thread made the reports?
how can that be the case when their last activity was in June 2018?

in any case it seems jsbjsb001 did not do it this time.
i am sorry jsbjsb001, for falsely accusing you!

While I could have just ignored your reply, I felt it deserves recognition.

So firstly, thank you ondoho.

I believe in giving credit where it's due, and that shows good character in my book. And if your big enough to apologise, then I should be bigger enough to acknowledge that, and I will. Needless to say, I accept your apology. I also think that the fact none of us have to be here to help anyone but you still come here and try to anyway also speaks to having a good character. I also don't disagree with you for the sake of it, in more than just a few cases, I do actually find myself agreeing - even if I don't actually post saying "I agree" etc. So if I seemed to come off a little strong then I'll also apologise for that. Without digressing too much; I actually quite enjoy reading posts from the regulars here, as more times than not, their quite insightful.

While hopefully I don't go off-topic here but as far as the "Ignore List" is concerned; you have never been on mine before and I have no plans to add you to it. I try and have a very high bar for my "Ignore List", in fact, while there are several people on it; most if not all of those members are not regular posters. I refuse to put someone on it just because I might find them "annoying" (speaking in general here, not towards anyone in particular). I only seriously consider it when like in the very thread we got our since reversed warnings in; I gave the OP valid advice that was also given by others too, and then the OP wants to start getting lippy about it. That's why they were put on my "Ignore List" and I'll probably never bother to even try and help them again.

I just hope this can mean an end to anymore "back and forth" between us and we can just focus on the thread instead.

@rtmistler,

I must agree, also accepted by myself. I guess it's the one thing that can catch us all out - the bloody date. But, we are only human. So no hard feelings with me either. *hit happens, what are ya gonna do?

I think it's time to just let bygones be bygones... just stop trying to discern the ill intent in each other's posts and just move on. But also just grow thicker skins and stop taking notice of every perceived slight.

The report was not made by the OP of that other thread, nor anyone posting here.

I very much regret that I had not noticed the dates.

My apologies for that information. I looked quickly and thought it was the OP; you're correct, it wasn't.
