And yes, Arch is not a good choice for a newbie. Knowledge comes with practice, and my plan is to sample small distros (Arch was 550+MB) and work through this. Lots of time and patience.
I need to read about this command line stuff and practice.
And for the hardware problem, I need to find what turns the fan on and off, and staring at the BIOS isn't helping.

BIOS in laptops turn out to be, how should I put it, kinda minimalistic usually... Than fan issue should be solved by looking it up in the manufacturer's website or in fora dedicated to the manufacturer. Changing an OS won't likely solve this issue...
