Samsung 1665 printer doesn't have duplex option anymore

Hi guys, a while back I had some problems with my printer which had a configuration error. We sorted that out ( but what was left was the fact that I had no duplex option anymore in the configuration.
I tried to sort it out using curls but I don't even get the option there for duplex, so I resorted to look into the printer properties in system settings: there I did find the duplex option, it's called "sides" there apparently and it has only one option unfortunately - one-sided.
it might be wort mentioning that my printer, as said is a ML 1665 but there are no drivers for that specific model, the drivers are for the "1600 family" and this is the model that comes up in curl when I log in.
So, any idea guys?

Most of the printer traits are defined in the .ppd file.

It looks like it (in theory) works with the samsung drivers. As a printer, not sure about the "sides" feature.

A place to start anyway.

thanks for that. AMong the other thing the thread in the first link suggests to copy rastertosamsungspl into the filter directory, however there is no rastertosamsungspl in the drives (cdroot/Linux/i386/at_root/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertosamsungspl).

Perhaps that file is in a later driver available for download.

If you can find any driver remotely similar for a duplexing printer, you might be able to see in the PPD file what commands are used for the duplex, and then you could hack the PPD you're using.

Right, tried that but I couldn't find it in any other driver. I eventually reinstall ubuntu because I was having also other issues and for now everything works.
