[SOLVED] Find Wireless Printer

I am at relatives house on vacation. I am connected to their wifi. How do I find their wireless Epson XP-400 printer connection?
I did Printers localhost > Clicked on Add. I see:
Enter URI - Enter Device URI (How do I discover that since my sister does not know what that is?)

Network Printer - Host: (what address do I use, or is there a command to find it?

I am running Linx Mint 18.0 - fully updated.

If it's like most printers with network capability that I've used, you should be able to open the settings menu on the printer and find the ip address.

I give my networked printers static addresses. It makes life much easier.

I've never tried adding an Epson printer yet but clicking on "Find Network Printer" should hopefully find the printer and be displayed under devices if it supports the bonjour protocol (DNS-SD). If you click on the printer device the correct URI will automatically be configured.

As far as I know you will need to install the driver.

You might want to go to http://localhost:631/admin and click add printer. But as mentioned above you shouldn't have to enter an ip, usually the printer config software finds it by itself.

Usually printers show in add printers.

Go to printer and use menu to print out IP address or full config. Be sure not to change anything.

Are you sure that this router allows connections between the connection you are on? Could you be on Guest access?

I remembered the address to put in the blank at Printers > New Printer - Enter URI. It is http://localhost:631/admin. That got me to "Choose a New Driver. Unfortunately there is no driver for the Epson XP-400.

I am now home, so find a printer is no longer an issue.

Heres what I did in Linux Mint:

Menu > settings > Hardware > Printers > + ADD > New Printer - Devices - Enter URI (I entered http://localhost:631/admin) > Choose New Driver. Unfortunately there was no driver for that printer. Somebody suggested " find a generic driver or something similar like Epson XP-4xx". By then I was already gone.

I failed to notice on the new Printer window that here were several suggestions to try in the Enter Device URI blank.
