Enlightenment 22.3 Won't Recognize Tap-to-Click Touchpad

E22.3 on Fedora 28 running on ASUS X200CA

I have just installed Fedora 28 and ran a complete update. It installed with Gnome DE and I was able to set the touchpad to "tap-to-click" through settings in the usual way. Then I installed E22.3.

When I log in using Enlightenment, "tap-to-click" is not operative. Start -> Settings -> All -> Preferences -> any choice (except Elementary config) opens a Gnome window from System Settings but it's blank. It has "Devices" in the top left corner but no content. I get the same result if I go in through Start -> Run Everything

Using Deconfig: /org/gnome/desktop/peripherals/touchpad "tap-to-click" is turned on but it is not operative.

Help appreciated. Thank you.

Just to get a better handle on this - What is reported by the following?
Code:
sudo libinput list-devices
Code:
gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.touchpad tap-to-click

Thanks for responding but I have decided to abandon Enlightenment altogether. The developer says this is a gnome issue but when I log in with a gnome desktop there are no problems. Whatever.

E is very, very nice in many respects but very, very quircky. I don't use tiling so a lot of what it can do is wasted on me anyway. Still, the ultra-finegrain control of the desktop is appealing. I may return when my patience level has risen
