IMG Code Off

Is there a particular reason why img code is turned off for the LinuxQuestions.org Member Success Stories forum?

Could you provide a link the specific post and a more detailed explanation of what's not happening that you think should be happening?

Go to the LinuxQuestions.org Member Success Stories forum:

https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ss-stories-23/

Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and note the Posting Rules box in the lower left:

If you post the URL to a thumbnail of an image as I've done above, all you get is a truncation of the URL. You don't see the image.

I would like to post a how-to in the aforementioned forum, but not unless I can include links to screenshot images.

The img tag is now enabled for that forum.

We have no plans to allow more than 5 uploaded attachments per post at this time.

watchingu,
Might your how-to work better as a blog post? Just a suggestion.
You could post a link to the blog in Member Success Stories

@Jeremy: They're not attachments, they're image links. I've never encountered a forum where users are limited to the the number of images they can have in a post. I think limiting images in a post is idiotic, unless you don't want to pay for the increased bandwidth. However, I've been a member of other Linux forums with probably a much smaller budget for server costs and there was no image limit for a post. I tried posting more than 6 image links in another forum here and evidently, 6 is the limit for all forums. Again, I think that's idiotic, especially if one wants to post a how-to.

@scasey: Thank you for the suggestion, but image links don't work properly in blog posts. I just tried it.

At this point, I give up. I just wanted to share some information with other Linux users and evidently, this isn't the place to do that, at least the way I wanted to share it.

Just use two posts for your presentation.

You're correct. The limit for attachments is 5, images is currently 6.

Given the nature of LQ, a large number of images is outside the normal use-case (so much so that this is the first request for this in almost 20 years of existence). I've upped the limit to 10. That said, I'd appreciate it if future feedback is a little more constructive that "I think it's idiotic".
