VirtualBox-6.0.6 Has A Problem.

For years I've been running winXp-sp3 in VirtualBox so I can run the HP drivers that came with one of their flat bed scanners. Unlike every scanner app I've tried in Linux, the Xp-HP drivers produce a perfect scan the first time, every time.
Yesterday, after installing VirtualBox-6.0.6, the winXp/hp software could no longer "communicate" with the scanner. It could find the HP printer just fine, but not the scanner. I tried different USB ports, but no luck.
So, I "sh uninstall.sh" VB-6.0.6 from /opt/VirtualBox and re-installed VB-6.0.4, and everything works as it should and has in the past.
Just FYI.

Thanks for the info, cwizardone.

You might want to report the bug to the VirtualBox developers so that they can produce a fix, since I imagine this might affect other folk too.

Well, yesterday I went to do exactly that, but then the site asked me to "register" and the personal information they require is more than they need to know (for any reason).

No problem. Hopefully someone else with the issue will report it and they will sort it out.

VirtualBox-6.0.8 was released today, but it doesn't fix the problem as outlined in post #1 above.

Once 6.0.8 was removed and 6.0.4 re-installed the scanner worked perfectly.

It appears to be a USB communications problem between VirtualBox and the HP flatbed scanner.
With 6.0.6 it couldn't see the scanner. WIth 6.0.8 it sees the scanner, but cannot successfully communicate with the scanner. It comes back with an error message from the HP software that a LCD is blinking and to contact HP support. However, the problem is not the scanner, but, as I said, with VirtualBox versions 6.0.6 and 6.0.8.
As previously mentioned, the printer worked as it should.

The problem appears to have been fixed in VirtualBox-6.0.10 (released this morning).
