Did you read posts #66, #67 about Fedora ?
And post #47, Ubuntu 11.10...13.04 ?

Prerequisites for Aquasim, Aqua3d / Ubuntu :
$ sudo apt-get install \
g++ automake autoconf make libtool patch libxmu-dev \
libwxgtk2.8-dev libgl1-mesa-dev libglu1-mesa-dev freeglut3-dev

Building Aquasim, Ubuntu 11.04...13.* :
1) $ mkdir Aquasim
2) $ cd Aquasim/
3) $ tar xvf Aqua-Sim-1.0.tgz
4) $ export CC=gcc41 CXX=g++41 && ./install

I try what you suggested, but I failed in step 4) due to lack of gcc41(make: gcc41: Command not found
). And then I try to install them using sudo dpkg -i gcc41-compat-4.1.2-ubuntu1210_i386.deb g++41-compat-4.1.2_i386.deb, but I got the following:
dpkg: error processing gcc41-compat-4.1.2-ubuntu1210_i386.deb (--install):
cannot access archive: No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing g++41-compat-4.1.2_i386.deb (--install):
cannot access archive: No such file or directory
Errors were encountered while processing:
gcc41-compat-4.1.2-ubuntu1210_i386.deb
g++41-compat-4.1.2_i386.deb

P.S. I use Ubuntu12.04 (32bit) to install Aqua-Sim1.0...Failed untill now. Please help. Thank you very much.

Many thanks, knudfl!
Sorry to post the same question twice at different post.
I try the "sudo dpkg -i gcc41-compat-4.1.2.ubu1204_i386.deb g++41-compat-4.1.2_i386.de",
but still get the same error. I guess it has nothing with the already installed ns-allinone-2.34?
I will check it again and discuss with you, thanks.

If you want to access something, you will have to go to it's location.
Or bring the packages to your location.
***** The first command is always $ pwd : To know your location.

Example installing gcc41 / g++41 :
1)
$ cd Downloads/ ( Or wherever you are hiding the packages. 'cd Desktop/' ?
2)
$ sudo dpkg -i gcc41-compat-4.1.2.ubu1204_i386.deb g++41-compat-4.1.2_i386.deb

Thanks,I put the downloaded two deb files in /home/easie/NS2, and switch to /home/easie/NS2 to install them, the results following:
easie@ubuntu:~/NS2$ sudo dpkg -i gcc41-compat-4.1.2.ubu1204_i386.deb g++41-compat-4.1.2_i386.deb
[sudo] password for easie:
(Reading database ... 195969 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace gcc41-compat 4.1.2.ubu1204 (using gcc41-compat-4.1.2.ubu1204_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement gcc41-compat ...
Preparing to replace g++41-compat 4.1.2 (using g++41-compat-4.1.2_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement g++41-compat ...
Setting up gcc41-compat (4.1.2.ubu1204) ...
Setting up g++41-compat (4.1.2) ...

Then I exit the Terminal and open it, input which gcc41, found the results:
easie@ubuntu:~$ which gcc41
easie@ubuntu:~$
I guess the gcc41 not installed successfully, right? How could I do?

P.S. The two downloaded deb files information is attahced.

easie@ubuntu:~/NS2$ pwd
/home/easie/NS2
easie@ubuntu:~/NS2$ ls
Aqua-Sim-1.0 g++41-compat-4.1.2_i386.deb
Aqua-Sim-1.0.tgz gcc41-compat-4.1.2.ubu1204_i386.deb
DESERT_all_in_one_1.0.1 Install DESERT all in one.doc
DESERT_all_in_one_1.0.1.tar.gz

Great great thanks.

# 142 .

Well, that's strange. Post #140 shows the packages Installed OK.

This is the normal behavior :
$ which g++41
/usr/bin/gcc41/bin/g++41
$ which gcc41
/usr/bin/gcc41/bin/gcc41

Many Thanks. I will try it again. I am a little confident since Post #140 shows the successfully installed packages.
And I set up the cygwin environment to simulate Aqua-Sim-1.0 since I get some study to do, and hope I can simulate it in my Ubuntu!!!

# 145 , @mahe.ek21.

There is no "update". But you can copy files from Aqua-Sim-1.0.tgz
http://ubinet.engr.uconn.edu/aqua_pa...ua-Sim-1.0.tgz
.. to make sure that the files are genuine original files.

Or you can start from scratch with a new clean Aqua-Sim-1.0.tgz .
? May be you mean 'make clean' instead of "update" ?
The command to use is $ make distclean

I have made some changes inside already existing header and c++ files in underwatersensor directory
I saved the changes, then applied make under ns2.30 and also tried make clean,make distclean.

and i got
make[1]: Nothing to be done for `all'.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/hema/Aqua-Sim-1.0/ns-2.30/indep-utils/cmu-scen-gen/setdest'
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/hema/Aqua-Sim-1.0/ns-2.30/indep-utils/webtrace-conv/dec'

[hema@localhost ns-2.30]$

The aqua-sim 1.0 is extracted from the file mentioned in the previous post..when i run the tcl file,did not get any modifications result..can u tell how to save the changes in already existing .cc and .h files..thanks in advance..
