How can I get Flash Player on old Pentium III laptop to work?

Apologies if this in the wrong forum (my first posting here) and not a Linux expert.
I have recently installed Xubuntu 12.10 on an old HP Omnibook 6000 , Pentium III, 1.2 ghz, I think. Seemed a shame to throw it away!
All working as well as can be expected considering the age and spec apart from playing Flash videos. Lubuntu behaved similarly.
I have installed the Xubuntu Restricted Extras but to no avail.
Any idea how I can get this work?

Does it even start playing some content or it crashes as soon as you load the page you're viewing?
I believe there's some SSE2 code compiled in the flashplayer plugin so, on a Pentium III with only MMX and SSE you won't ever be able to use it apart from some older version (you could try with version 10).
There's a great post by DavidMcCann explaining everything you need to know to make it work on old computers.

Many thanks for your very prompt reply. Perhaps it's a case of 'You can't make a silk pusre out of a sow's ear'!
It's fine for most other things so maybe I'll leave it be.

With only 1.2GHz even older versions of the Flash Player will deliver only stop-motion-like videos. If you just want to watch Youtube videos I can recommend the Minitube player, I was able to watch Youtube videos with it on a 550MHz Celeron CPU, so it should work fine with your machine.

I've got 1.8 GHz here and I have no problem. If you try my solution (see #2), you can see if Flash works for you.

If your computer doesn't meet the minimum hardware requirements for Adobe Flash player:

then try downloading the video to your hard drive and watching it with your favorite player (I prefer mplayer for older hardware). Tools such as minitube and youtube-dl may assist you with this task (if they are legal in your jurisdiction).
