Oh I see, I was trying to physically replace the text in the folder. How do I do that in the terminal?

Open the file in a text editor and change it. Start the text editor with "sudo" as only root can modify that file. For example, in a terminal

Code:
sudo gedit
or whatever text editor you have present on your machine.

Thanks, didn't work. I did replace 127.0.0.1 with 8.8.8.8 but still no internet. Ping results came up "destination host unreachable.

Thanks for the help, but I'm getting fruatrated and I am just going to reinstall and see if that works.
