When tapping the three vertical dots in Android Chrome, you get the screenshot which has been attached. Under share, it shows the gmail icon. At the bottom, it shows the Google icon with a following check mark.
How do I turn-off "share"?
How can "follow" be disabled?
I did not see any obvious solution under Chrome's settings. Just to see what would happen, I deleted all history and cache, but that didn't work.
The attached screen image, also depends on the active tab. So if I am website "A", it shows I'm following "A". When I go to website "B", it shows that I am following "B".
When I go to my Google account, I don't see an option that would turn-off "share" or to disable "follow".

Rep:
share just sends a email text or whatever with the current page address, its not permanant so cant be 'activated'.
dont know about following probably in the settings somewhere.
To turn off the "share" option and disable "follow" in Chrome, you can try the following steps:
Open Chrome and tap on the three vertical dots at the top-right corner of the screen to access the menu.
From the menu, select "Settings" or "Options" (the exact wording may vary depending on your device).
In the Settings menu, look for "Share & follow" or a similar option. It might be listed under "Privacy" or "Sync and Google services."
Tap on "Share & follow" and toggle off the options for "Share" and "Follow" to disable them.
If you can't find the specific settings mentioned above, Chrome's interface may have changed, or the options might be located elsewhere. In such cases, it's advisable to explore different sections within the Chrome settings or consult Chrome's official documentation for the most up-to-date instructions.
Well, as usual, the menu layout/options did not match. I did some more internet surfing, but could not find anything new.
I decided to go ahead and "nuke" the chrome and gmail settings. This has removed the gmail icon next to the share option, so the issue can be considered solved.
