Firefox Quantum 59.0.2: strange behaviour when downloading a file.

Ubuntu 18.04
Firefox Quantum 59.0.2

Hi: I am at https://slackbuilds.org/repository/1...skypeforlinux/. I click 'skypeforlinux.tar.gz'. A window opens with the title 'Opening skypeforlinux.tar.gz'. I choose 'Save File' and click the OK button. But then nothing happens except that the window disappears. How can this be?

No problems for me!

Have you used slackbuilds before? They are tiny files that download almost instantaneously. The only way you know anything has happened is that you find the file afterwards in your Downloads folder.

Oh! Yes, I found the downloaded files in the Downloads directory. And how do I do to tell Ubuntu not to proceed to download before asking me where to place the file?

Use the Firefox menu to find Preferences - Downloads. On the first page there is a box where you can check "Always ask you where to save files".
