been a while...
archlinux, openbox, tint2, conky and oomox.
btw, i wish people would post screenshots like this: a thumbnail sized image that links to a full-sized image.
most image uploader sites already prepare that for you, you just have to copy-paste it.
edit: LQ's built-in attachment functionality is also good.
What's that background? Sometimes I want something that's neither solid or the grid scheme from xsetroot.
yes, i often like simple textures, some noise.
this one is something very quickly chosen from my collection. it's not a perfect fit for the current theme. but i wanted light colors.
i can't reconstruct (image search) where i got it from... been downloading wallpapers from various sites for ages... anyhow, here it is.

I admit that I was 'fishing for a script' due to my laziness.
My laziness took me even further, past trying to puzzle out how ImageMagick works (a task for a rainy day, perhaps) and right into the open arms of The Gimp. Using Filters->Noise->Hurl to fill the canvas with random colors, along with Colors->Colorize to adjust everything to one color, then I like using Filters->Noise->Pick to smudge things around.
If your starting canvas is too small, it looks more like carpet when you zoom it in to fit your desktop. If it's big enough, it looks more like my formica countertop. I've yet to replicate ondoho's wallpaper, though; I'll keep at it.

ah, i wasn't aware of that.
i used to have a random noise background generator shell script somewhere... can't find it
also, various approaches involving convert exist, e.g.: https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/viewtopic.php?id=5101

I was using postimg.org, as they provided several options for posting to forums in the way you describe. But they disappeared some time ago. Some of my posts are missing images now. postimages.org seems to be good. Don't think the two sites were related.
you (and probably also the pre-previous poster) are linking an imgur page, not an image.
this should work (right-click on full-sized image => view image => copy that link): https://i.imgur.com/Ufg9Wgs.png
