A little late to the party

Hello linuxquestions ! I've been using linuxquestions mainly as a reader but today I decided I'll join to try and help on a specific topic that remained unsolved. There is a common rule about not waking up an old thread, but according to XKCD this might be frustrating to people coming reading from the future, or is it :/ ?

Anyway, happy to be amongst fellow penguins and wildbeests !

Welcome to LQ!

Necro-posts are poo-poo'ed as bad form in a lot of places.
Some of us have attention issues.

Pick the same forum as the necro'd one and cite a link to the necro post with "Doesn't work" next to that.

Hi ychaouche and welcome to LQ!

One case I've seen is where the thread was not solved, the OP of the thread still shows up on LQ regularly, and so maybe not so horrible of a thing if the answer is an actual answer. The most frowned upon thing really is waking up a thread where the OP asked a very simple question about how to use ls or cat, and never marked the thread as solved, or they asked about something which is now very out of date.

ychaouche welcome to the forum..

I am always the one that reinvents the wheel, so old posts are good to read and then post into sometimes...

As I was away for a few years(odd time I checked on read something but didnt hang around) I am technically a newbie again...

A few would remember my times of terrorise the forum.. Umm a couple of years ago I think, roflmao...

If you see a solution to something that others have tried to answer and you know there idea dont work, fire away... Whats the worst that could happen, your opinion resolved the issue!

Hope you enjoy this forum as much as I have and hope to enjoy more yet...

Thanks for the warm welcoming

In fact, the answer is not specifically given to OP but to anyone on the Internet who made a search query and landed on that thread and is also looking for a solution. https://xkcd.com/979/
