Where is LibreOffice Word Completion words list located on my system?

Hi.

Where is the list of Word Completion words located in LibreOffice? Is it somewhere in '~/.config/libreoffice'? Can I edit it and add my own long list of words?

I've never tried to edit it manually, but I believe that you will find a file named "acor***.dat" that is specific to your language settings. It can be found in the directory:

~.config/libreoffice/4/user/autocorr/

The .dat file can be opened using Archive manager. You should see some xml files that can be opened in a text editor. I'm not sure about manually editing these files, saving them, and putting them back inside the *.dat file, though.

As long as the words have more letters than the minimum word length that you've specified, the Word Completion feature is enabled and collecting words, and the maximum entries setting will not be reached (see Tools->AutoCorrect->AutoCorrect Options->Word Completion for all of these settings) then all you would need to do, I would imagine, is create a document with all the words you want to add, and they will automatically be added to the word completion list.

The list of auto complete words only seem to be based on your current document. I wish there was a way to have a full list of words for all future documents.

Calc auto-completes text from previous rows above in the same column. So perhaps if you input your choice of words at the beginning of the word document it would do the same.
I haven't tried it but if it works you could create a template with the words already in and then delete them from the completed new document.

I've just tried it (very briefly) and it seems to work.

Ensure that "When closing a document, remove the words collected from it from the list" is unchecked.

It was unchecked all along. I seem to be having issues with spellcheck. Perhaps that's something to do with this. I want 'English (Ireland)' but spellcheck only works with I have 'English (USA)' selected for all text [Tools >> Language >> For All Text].

I'm not sure that there is an English (Ireland) spelling dictionary. It certainly doesn't seem to indicate so on Tools->Options->Language Settings->Languages->Default Languages for Documents (click on the default language shown and it shows a list of languages, only some of which have little ABC's, presumably to indicate they have spelling dictionaries).

There also doesn't appear to be an English (Ireland) dictionary in the LibreOffice extensions (https://extensions.libreoffice.org/).

I'm sorry for suggesting this to someone from Ireland, but have you thought about just using the English (UK) spelling dictionary? It's going to be pretty much the same as an Ireland one would be.

For 'Tools->Options->Language Settings->Languages->Default Languages' - only USA has abc next to it. I selected that. The word list is still not remembered though. In the screenshot - it shows 'English (Ireland)' greyed out.

In that case, install the following extension:

This probably won't solve the completion issue, but at least it will provide you with a spell checker that's more in line with the English you use.
