Question Postfix not sending email via outside SMTP server

I'm trying to get my linux boxes to send me emails whenever there is a RAID/SMART problem. I'm using mdadm and I've tried setting up SmartMonTools to monitor SMART status. I saw that you can somehow get it to send email via Postfix but after following various online guides, I still can't send myself an email through a third party server. I run a few linux computers from my house. I have a domain name associated with my ISPs assigned IP address so I can run a webserver. There are various computer behind my router.

I've attempted to use all the following guides with no success:
• https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Smartmontools
https://gsmartcontrol.sourceforge.io/home/
• https://www.digitalocean.com/communi...n-ubuntu-18-04
• https://www.linux.com/learn/install-...ix-mail-server
• https://www.digitalocean.com/communi...n-ubuntu-14-04
• https://www.digitalocean.com/communi...n-ubuntu-18-04
• https://askubuntu.com/questions/5367...me-with-output
• https://linode.com/docs/email/postfi...-smtp-debian7/
• https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/how-to...xternal-smptd/

So far no success but it hasn't been from a lack of trying. I'm not really Linux literate... but I can follow instructions. So far I think I have the postfix mostly configured but when I try sending a sample email from the command line, I get the following errors. I haven't opened any other ports with ufw other than for postfix and mailutils per the guides. Checking /var/logs/mail.log, I get the following:

May 20 16:17:15 Blondie postfix/pickup[27742]: E913FFA11A1: uid=1000 from=<yam@kazoo.com>

May 20 16:17:16 Blondie postfix/local[27780]: 06A29FA11A7: to=<yam@kazoo.com>, relay=local, delay=0.09, delays=0.03/0/0/0.06, dsn=5.1.1, status=bounced (unknown user: "rockybalboa")
May 20 16:17:16 Blondie postfix/qmgr[27743]: 06A29FA11A7: removed

I don't even know where to begin diagnosing this issue. I'm a Windows --> Linux convert so I'm illiterate in Linux.

Hi,

Which Linux flavor and version are you using?
Can you try and post the result of the command
Code:
postconf -n

You haven't created the user you are trying to deliver to.

I'm using Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon.

I changed the domain names/usernames to protect the innocent.

That's what I don't understand. I'm not trying to deliver it to a local user. I'm just getting it to send via my hosting provider using their IMAP/SMTP server to whatever other email address I specify.

It’s impossible to tell from what you’ve posted and munged.

Go through the process of sending an email from the start and document each step in detail. I

I think you then need to define the relayhost directive, with something similar to
Code:
postconf -e 'relayhost = my_hosting_provider_smtp_server'
postfix restart or reload
