Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I installed Debian Sarge a few days ago... I'm using it right now. Well anyways, I removed all the gnome applications and left kde. I restart the computer log into kde and find that all the removed gnome apps are not removed from the kde menu. Any ideas?
Just to expand on aysiu's post. Removing software doesn't necessarily remove it from the K menu. You can edit the k menu through the control center or just by right clicking on the k menu button and selecting "Menu Editor". Manually delete the offending entries, save your changes, and you're done.
BTW, either of you know a more automatic way to do this? I can just see some poor local refugee (pun: I'm in Houston) getting getting upset by the hassle.
I believe it's distribution and/or implimentation dependant. KDE software installed via package managers will most likely remove their menu entries when uninstalled with the same package manager. Doing a make uninstall if installed via source should work too. Non-KDE software (Mozilla, OpenOffice, etc) may or may not add or remove K menu entries depending on your distro/package manager. As an example, FreeBSD's package manager only adds K menu entries for KDE software. All other entires have to be manually added.
