WoW Lutris DXVK broken after NVIDIA 450.57 update today (-current)
Hello!
Just updated my current today and now I cannot get DXVK to work with WOW Classic on Lutris.
As soon as game starts it says "World of Warcraft was unable to start up 3D acceleration", it works "fine" (as in runs @ 20fps) if I turn off DXVK.
Also had problems with steam crashing with standard settings as soon as you enable proton but if you deny the restart and start it manually it then worked (?), this was after reinstalling steam from scratch and also wow
Tried things like changin between opengl, d3d11, d3d12 and different wine runners no difference.
I thought it was wierd because Overwatch works fine but not Wow.
Anyone have any suggestions as what I can try? I dont get any errors in output from terminal afaik
Something is wonky but I dont know what, worst case scenario I have to do Molten Core today @10-20 fps xD
*update*
btw I did this update because I wanted to try Death Stranding but it said I needed the newer Nvidia 450.57 drivers and I havent tried yet but I'm pretty sure that DXVK in WoW will work if I revert back but I dont want to because I want to try Death Stranding, will post if I find anything
also getting this from ktorrent:
Code:
sön juli 19 16:51:54 2020: Error happened during parsing : Missing nodes or nodes6 parameter
Which Graphic card do you have? i had to roll back to NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-435.27.02.run and a older kernel to play another mmorpg game on a Kepler card (600 and 700 series is kepler), it worked fine with a 900-series graphic card and the newer driver
I'm using the 450.57 drivers and I haven't had any problems with games. What version of WINE are you using? There are issues with 5.12 and WoW. For kicks, might want to try Alien Bob's WINE, just to see if it works. (Granted, I haven't played WoW in a year or so.) But I do use DXVK for a lot.
FWIW, I don't run modern WOW because I prefer Wrath of the Lich King but lately I managed to run it from Steam and it runs substantially better than Wine-Staging. That's probably because Steam Proton is game specific while Wine apparently strikes a compromise to be able to handle Office type apps better. There is one down side for some using Steam for WOW since it will not run multiple instances of the game but that doesn't prevent you from running your Main from Steam and any additional instances from Wine directly.
I do this now regularly since testing showed a near 20% improvement in FPS with Steam Proton... at least on ancient DirectX 9 Wrath.

I probably should have mentioned that the above comparison with a 20% gain in FPS using Steam Proton was compared to Wine-Staging 5.5.6 with vulkan-sdk-1.2.131.2-x86_64-1 (and it's compat32) and DVXK 1.7.
