I am configuring a new samba share on a new Linux host. Linux version Slackware64 14.2, kernel 4.4.202, Samba version 4.6.16.
Below is my smb.conf which is slightly (I think) modified from a working version on a different Linux host. The config does not require authentication.
Code:
# testparm
Load smb config files from /etc/samba/smb.conf
rlimit_max: increasing rlimit_max (1024) to minimum Windows limit (16384)
Processing section "[database]"
Loaded services file OK.
Server role: ROLE_STANDALONE

# Global parameters

server string = HPRS database Server
log file = /var/log/samba.%m
max log size = 50
disable spoolss = Yes
load printers = No

idmap config * : backend = tdb

When I try to map this from a Windows 7 computer, I get the error: "The mapped network drive could not be created because the following error has occured: The specified server cannot perform the requested operation."
The last few lines of /var/log/samba.smdb have:
Code:

Server exit (connection denied)
There's lots of verbiage in the log output, but I don't see anywhere that it says "why" the connection is denied.
I've tried giving the target shared folder write-all permission. Nope.
What am I doing wrong?
