how do i test raid1 and raid5?


I have installed Ubuntu server in two machines. One contains raid 1 and the other raid 5. But after installing and configuring how do i test that it is working fine.

Disconnect a disk and see what happens.

Need more information on these RAID, did you set them up with hardware or software RAID?
Are these hot-swap drives (can you remove when system is powered on)?
Normally, in RAID1 and RAID5, you can lose one drive and system can still function. So, to test, remove one drive, but if drives are not hot-swap, then power off the system, then remove drive and power back on.

If these are configured with software RAID, open terminal and run "cat /proc/mdstat"
