Configuring DNS Secondary DNS (Slave) Servers

Greetings,

When setting up the DNS Server do I need to configure a slave server? And if not can I just comment out the lines in the config file which refer to the secondary slave?

I have a very small system and a slave server wouldn't benefit me.

Running CentOS 7.x

Thanks

What are you using the DNS server for?

According to the RFCs, a domain must have at least two, and preferably three authoritative name servers on different subsets.

Slave servers are a way to have “single point of maintenance” to maintain that replication.

Does a given name server have to have a slave? No.
Will commenting out those lines in the config file work? Try it and see. (I think it will, but I don’t know for sure)

Thanks, I'm going to give it a try by commenting out the reference to 'slave'. Will advise.
