xfce bug drag&drop not working in current

How reproducible?

open terminal , and try to put some file ON DESKTOP inseide terminal ,drag&drop not working.

when are in thunar window , IS WORKING , but not when files are on desktop.

slackware-current

SOLVED -->> update package xfdesktop to version 4.12.2 bug fixed

at same time i think is a good idea update Thunar to 1.6.10 latest for bug fixes.

I hope developers team update at least xfdesktop package to latest.

Thanks.

I just tried it... we'll as much as you can do something like that with fluxbox... we're a little light on desktop icons, however I did just pull an icon representing the remote mirror script I use into the XFCE4-Terminal it correctly set the path to the script in the terminal.
Which is a little surprising, I didn't know it did that. so thanks.

I xwmconfig'd over into Xfce and pulled an actual, honest to God icon from the desktop, dropped it in the xfce terminal and it correctly displayed the path to the file system.

But I couldn't reproduce your bug, and I'm running a standard current installation with xfdesktop 4.10.2
What kind of terminal are you using?
Which DE?

terminal is the default xfce4-terminal

but you are not bugged , because are using xfdesktop 4.10.2

the bug still present on xfce current xfdesktop-4.12.1 package -->> bugged

xfdesktop 4.12.2 patched version

current packages of xfce --> http://slackware.mirrors.tds.net/pub...lackware/xfce/

tittle of thread say ON CURRENT , 14.1 stable have other packages.

you can see scrool down package in current is 4.12.1 (bugged) , need update to 4.12.2

I'm running current, I just haven't run Slackpkg since... April...apparently... though on the bright side, my mirror updates every night like clockwork...
Standby, let's if we can break this thing....

Note:
If you update slackpkg via script at the beginning of your distro update, it re-writes your mirrors file (which it clearly states it's gonna do in the FM) and leaves you with no mirror to update from... which is just another way of saying it's a good spot for a sed rip.

On a side note, this works perfectly on the Slackware-stable based MLED with the latest Xfce 4.12 (updated components).

OK, current xfdesktop as follows...
Code:
bash-4.3# ls -alh /var/log/packages/xfdesktop-4.12.1-x86_64-1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8.1K Jul 9 20:37 /var/log/packages/xfdesktop-4.12.1-x86_64-1
Running the xfce DE and using the XFCE4-Terminal...
OK, I'm seeing what you're talking about now.
I checked the xfdesktop site for an appropriate bug report, nada. You want to let them know?

bug was reported some time ago for debian users.

xfce developers put out xfdesktop 4.12.2 as a "PATCHED" version.

if some one need solve this , only download xfdesktop 4.12.2 , and use the same slackbuild on the slack original package on current.

There is the files to create 4.12.1 ..only change for 4.12.2.tar.xz file.

Slackware build original files
http://slackbuilds.org/mirror/slackw...fce/xfdesktop/

And here xfdesktop 4.12.2
http://archive.xfce.org/src/xfce/xfd...4.12.2.tar.bz2

make new packge , he creates on /tmp

open terminal and upgradepkg /tmp/xfdesktop-4.12.2 ....

Another xfdesktop BUG FIX release , but slack , nothing move.

http://archive.xfce.org/src/xfce/xfd...4.12.3.tar.bz2

people can build using the slackware build script.
http://slackbuilds.org/mirror/slackw...fce/xfdesktop/

Personally i edit the slackbuild for add

Code:
  --enable-gio-unix \
  --enable-thunarx \
  --enable-notifications \

But can build with stock slackbuild as well.
