Considering *BSD and have questions

I'm not sure if you're aware but youtube has an html5 option, so if you have a fairly modern browser there's usually no need for flash.

I recently tried ubuntu too and I hated it, has the OP tried linux mint?
I put it on my old folks machine and it works grand.
To be honest if you want a desktop OS FreeBSD is not top choice.
It's more for sad nerdy geeks like myself.
