DHCP Issues

Hey there, I am trying to set up a Belkin 'G' USB Wireless Adapter (F5D7050) on Ubuntu 6.10. I used ndiswrapper to install the driver, below are some commands I ran from the terminal. Does anybody have any ideas why I cannot access the internet, or more to the point, why I fail to receive a reply from the DHCP server? I've read several different methods which detail of how to get wireless up and running but none seem to work. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I seem to have exactly the same problem as this.

Did you get anywhere?

Sure did, open a new terminal window and post the output of the following:
Code:
cat /etc/network/interfaces
It'd also help if you could list the steps you've done so far.

Same wlan0 dhcp problem.

I have the same problem, and have tried the same steps. Here is my output:

# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).

# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
wireless_essid thompson

You said you solved it - advice? My card is a LinkSys

Cool

YOUR output shows YOUR setup as wlan0 set at [255.255.255.255]. Is this correct? When I install a Linux Distro, and it runs PPPoE, it will cycle in Discovery forever. Because my ISP only has PPPoA. And I cannot run PPPoE. Hope this helps. Please check with YOUR ISP.
