INTRO: Seasoned IT Professional, Been Lurking for a While

I am an IT guy with 15+ years experience in manufacturing environments. Much of that time has been spent working with database applications like J.D. Edwards (aka. Oracle EnterpriseOne) that drive management and decision-support systems. By the time stuff lands on my desk, it is usually already over time and over budget. Said another way, when people come to me, they've already tried cheaper and faster--now, they want it better.

I cut my teeth on QNX, back in the mid-1980s. I didn't get back to a 'nix system until I bought a Mac in 2011, followed by a series of Linux laptops since 2012.

Welcome to LQ, Jed, from someone else who used QNX (although in the early 1990s).

Hi Jed. Welcome.
Is that your real name or are you an old 'Beverly Hillbillies' fan?

Thanks, petelq!

Yes, I'm an old Beverly Hillbillies fan--Jed is also a handle of mine from Bitcoin mining days.
