Yesterday i installed sabayon 4.2 gnome using the installation dvd.

Unlike other distros (ubuntu, fedora), by default:
it plays,
3gpp mobile format video and that too with sound,
enables 3d desktop effects.

But it doesnot play vcd and dvd using any of the default video players - totem, xine and mplayer.

I am new to this distro as well as linux and doesn't have knowledge on downloading of packages from repositories, installation of packages/softwares using commands in terminal.

I installed sabayon as i came to know that its very user friendly and install all the software/packages through installation dvd and does not require manual installation of software using repository.

I very much like this distro and want to use this OS for my home as well as office needs. Apart from the glitches as i have mentioned above and the fact that it does not have any cd/dvd burning software, it works fine.

So, please help me
i. in enabling to play vcd/dvd in sabayon 4.2 gnome
ii. in installing cd/dvd burning software - Brasero.

I would like to inform that i have no knowledge on command line and therfore please elaborately explain the commands needed to install the above, if the same are to be installed through the terminal.

The specs are as follows:
19" Dell (E1909W) lcd monitor
AMD Phenom X8450 tri core processor of 2.1Ghz
ATI Radeon HD3200 graphic card
500gb seagate harddisk
2gb RAM

you need to install proper codecs, gstreamer codecs, ffmpeg,xvid,faad2,libdvdcss2, etc.

Brasero should be there bundled with Gnome! nt sure about sabayon, I only tried the KDE version, but if it's not there try:
