Can't login after update
 

Hi,

I did an update for my sabayon system and now, everything comes up to the login screen all well and good and then when I login the first icon begins to come on and then the whole screen goes black and I get sent back to the login screen.

Any suggestions? I could re-install but I would rather fix instead. I can get into fluxbox but I can't do anything there.

Try looking at your logs. The X and whatever login manager you use would be of particular interest.

Also it would be helpful if we could know information about your configuration (desktop environment, display manager, other applicable info).

I am using KDE, I don't know what you mean by display manager. I am currently using tvm to browse the internet. I also don't know what you mean by log in manager, I am on grub if that helps.

I am on Sabayon 6.

What I mean by display/login manager is the screen that appears that you use to login. It you are using kde it is likely KDM.

If you have looked at your log files and can't find any problems post them here. Post .xsession-errors from your home directory and anything in /var/log/ that relates to X or KDE.

Also, if you haven't donebso already look at your distro's fourm/mailing list to see if others are having the same problem because of the update.
