Trying to build a Live-Install CD, should I give ROCK a roll?

Hi!

I'm looking into (still in the looking into stage) making an install/Live CD. I understand that Rock is a distribution building kit, so I'm wondering how well it works for creating LiveCD's as well. I will be building a Gentoo distro on it, would I be better off looking at the Gentoo live CD and modifying it for my needs?

Here's the problems I'm seeing if I choose to use the Gentoo CD:
Gentoo doesn't install like other distros, it's all done by the user, not much automation.

Here's what I'd like to do, maybe you can tell me if Rock is the way to go with it:

Do a Gentoo install, install the extra packages I want (Mplayer, Xorg, etc..) configure the kernel appropriately, and throw that on a disc (DVD probably). Then I'd like to be able to build multiple identical systems, put the DVD in each one, and have a boot choice of "linux install" versus the default of using the disc as a LiveCD. Something I guess more like Knoppix, but not Debian based.

I'd also need to be able to remaster the Disc for updates, throw in the 'updated' disc, type something like "linux update" at the boot prompt, and have the updates performed without much (any?) user interaction.

Any ideas?

To follow up on what I found in the last day or so:

Blindcoder built a ROCK based distro called LVP. It's a liveCD that boots and plays files that are stored on the CD when you master it. Could be a good building block for my needs. Then I came across a slew of BootCD options which include the Slax scripts used to create Slax, but can be tailored to any distro, sounds yet even more promising, but less focused on my needs. However, I think I can tune scripts fairly well, so both these ideas might be worth a look into.

Then I came across a few Gentoo LiveCD tutorials of different varieties and 1 seemed to really stick out as being up my alley. You do your install, install your extra packages and then create a LiveCD of your filesystem as is (a bit more complication, but that's the general idea). Which is very close if not exactly what i was looking for. As my idea unrolls I'll post more info, if it doesn't pertain to ROCK I'll start a new thread and probably place it in the Distributions main forum (in case anyone cares :D ). In the meantime, I'm all ears (eyes I guess) and ideas are always welcome.
