Is rock suiatable for normal desktop use
 
Hello,

Im looking for a source based distro for normal desktop use.

Can Rock be something for me so I can learn how linux is working ?

Hello charlie_lab,

I didn't build Rock yet so i don't know if you learn much about how Linux works from that project.

There is another project where you have to build it from source, it's named LFS (linuxfromscratch.org).

I spent about 2 weeks in building my own Linux with the LFS Tutorial, and I think I learned a lot how linux works from it.

Hello,

I know taht project.
But I find it wierd that you first have to buikd everything to use a package manager and then have to rebuild everything so the packagemanager can work.

ROCK contains a KDE3 based desktop distribution named chrystal. In my opinion there is something to learn from ROCK, mostly when you are interested in programming bash scripts.
