which log do i check after system crash?
 

We run a webserver under RH and last week the server crashed (first time in 1,5 year).

We rebooted it and started all processes again.

Now I want to find out what caused the crash, but i can't seem to find out which logs to check for this.

I read that /var/log/messages should containt some info, but in my case the message files have very little data and the timestamp is from a year ago.

Could it be that my system logs data elswhere?

How do i find out where it stores systemlogs?
