what is inode.


can anyone explain this ? ? ?
what is inode
what is relation between inode and a directory.
whenever i create a directory. the linkcount in o/p of ll command shows as 2 why?

oh i just ignore this link while searching in google, i thought this will not be much technical information.
i have read couple of docs for inode, but still was confused.
i am new to linux.
