Visioneer 8700 USB Scanner

Does anyone know how I can get my Visioneer 8700 USB scanner recognized in either RedHat 9 or Mandrake 9.1? The Visioneer site only mentions Windows drivers, and neither Linux distro recognizes it. Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

It appears that *none* of the Visioneer USB scanners are supported under Linux at all

Damn! That figures... there's always one or two severe hardware problems with Linux that really makes it a non-workable system, no matter how advanced the distro is purported to be. This is a really nice scanner, and, as a photographer, I have to have it. Besides, The Gimp isn't quite yet on a par with Photoshop. So, I guess it's "wait 'til version 10 or 11....
