Question Version 2.6 Kernel for RH9...

Hi,

I was informed that Kernel v2.6 was a better kernel for laptops, so I have downloaded that. However, it did not come in RPM format, but in bz2. So, what would I need to do with it now so that I get a functional kernel up?

I've only upgraded the kernel using RPM packages before, but the RHN did not have any 2.6 kernel, so I downloaded the whole source code for it. I now just need some help on how to proceed to compile the kernel

TIA,
Alf829

This is one of the most asked questions on this message board. That's why there's a news post on it, which can easily be found by searching, or by clicking here:

Thank for the thread info.

But I was kinda looking for some info on what I had to include in the modules when compiling a kernel for a laptop. Guess I'll look around a bit more then.

Cheers,
