usbdisk is not not showing in /media directory

I am using RHEL 4 linux. When we plug in the usb device it is not shown in /media directory. Also there is no /dev/sda* in /dev directory.

Plz help for mounting my usb devices.....

I suspect a hardware failure. Open a terminal as root and display system messages ("tail -f /var/log/messages"). Plug your usbdisk and look for error messages...

If nothing obvious is showed, please, send to us all messages related to usb disk displayed above.
