Upgrade to kernel-55 causes system to hang at startup

I just updated to:

Red Hat Desktop release 4

It hangs at startup right after it says:

"Entering non-interactive startup"

Reverting back to kernel-34 boots fine, so I've set it as the default kernel. The next startup service for kernel-34 says:

"No volume groups found"
"Starting readahead_early ... "

Any ideas on what could be causing this? Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have customized your system, and along the way something updated your initrd.img file automagically without notifying you. You will have to poke around to find the proper command to update the initrd.img file for the new kernel. Try "man mkinitrd" first.
