Question unknown monitor type


I have an old mecer laptop that i want to install red hat linux 9 (fedora) on. It says it can't detect the monitor type. what can i do ? I could install the linux in text mode but graphical doesn't work. AFter installation, the machine just boots to a point and then stalls. What can i do ?

Do you want to install RH9 or Fedora ?
Any way,Do you know what monitor you have ? If i is laptop, then you can probably try to select the brand
of manufacturer from a list of display types?

Normally in RH9, I have seen it gives me an option, but Maybe the closest monitor might also work.
