Uninstalling RedHat Linux 9.0 Using PartitionMagic

Hey guys i am new to this forum! I want to uninstall Redhat Linux 9.0 from my computer because it is giving me all sorts of problems. I have PartitionMagic 8.0 by Powerquest. My question is, what is the best and easiest way to uninstall Redhat Linux 9.0 using PartitionMagic 8.0 and fix MBR so it doesnt keep showing me some Linux boot option when im rebooting? Also i want to make sure that this uninstallation will not delete my Windows partition cuz i have ALOT of files i dont want to lose. Any advice?

OK, I tried Linux, I think it sucks and I don't like it. I want to go back to Microsoft Windows.

You can remove lilo from the mbr with
/sbin/lilo -u
You can remove grub or lilo from the mbr by booting with a Microsoft Windows 98 boot floppy (at the prompt, type fdisk /mbr), or by using the Windows XP Recovery Console or the Windows 2000 Recovery Console

Driver Cleaner - Driver Cleaner is a program which helps you to remove parts of drivers that are left after uninstalling the old drivers. The program is for ATI and nVidia drivers. First you need to uninstall the drivers from the control panel than reboot and after that run the program. If you really want a good description of what steps you should do than you really need to read the readme file included in the zip file and installation as it contains a detailed description step by step.

You do have the Microsoft install CD so that you can get to the the recovery console, right?

Follow the Microsoft instructions to remove the boot loader, then using partition magic instead of the Microsoft/Linux tools mentioned to change the Linux filesystems to Microsoft file systems.

The basic proceedure is the same.

Remove bootloader and restore the mbr.

Change the Linux filesystems to Microsoft file systems.

No. That will re-install Windows, which you stated you wished not to do.

Use your Windows XP install CD and use the Windows XP Recovery Console to repair the mbr, which will remove the bootloader.

AHHHH!!!! I did what you told you and it worked and then i repartitioned the harddrive using partitionmagic and installed slackware..slackware was running real slow so i tried to go about and uninstall it again by doing FDISK /MBR but it rendered my Windows unbootable and i had to reformat the entire harddrive!! AHHHH !!!

Good old, reliable Microsoft Windows tools. <shrug>

That's one reason I like Linux rather than Windows. I can find information and it works the same every time and doesn't "change it's mind on it's own" like Microsoft software.
