Unable to play Mp3's

I am currently running Redhat 9 download version... when I go to launch an mp3, I get the message that due to licenseing restrictions, it (the media player) is unable to play a file of this type (mp3,wavs). After which I then get the option to browse for a file. Is there a work around for this? or is there an alternative (download) for me to play my music? Thanks!

PS: XMMS is the media player

www.xmms.org -> download latest xmms rpm -> then install it using rpm -Uvh <filename>.rpm
By this you upgrading existing xmms and removing the mp3 issue.
