Unable to connect to ISP

I was using RH8 and is trying to connect to my ISP provider (i am using different ISP's and they provide no specific IP address - ISPs using prepaid cards)...

The dev/modem cannot probe my modem yet kppp dialer was able to query the modem on dev/stty0, this happens when i am using the internet connnection wizard in RH8. What shall i do....?

The /dev/modem file is just a link to your modem's serial port device (which ever it may be /dev/ttyS0 - /dev/ttyS3).

What exactly is the problem? are you able to dial?
