TmpFS ??
How do you install TmpFS partition and Samba server to run a program about 400MB in size?
Any tips are welcome. Is there any mirroring feature I can use to protect data? in case of power down beside a UPS. |
If you mount a tmpfs to a directory that is shared by Samba, that's it for Samba+tmpfs. Now onto the data protection question, the simple answer is don't use tmpfs, that's definitely the opposite of what it is for. There is no such thing as a tmpfs partition either, it is resides in virtual memory (physical memory + swap) only.

Thanks, I am new to Linux.
I a using Slackware 10.0 and I need an extremely fast response on hard disk access or my program slows down to a crash at peeks. This is a LAN with abauth 10 users, running a DOS program about 400MB in size. (15 years of history) What Distribution do you recommend? |
