Switch to graphic interface

Dear Group
After i installed linux(RedHat3) on my laptop two days ago, the system boot to the character interface. By trying the command startx, i got an error "there is no such command". How can i switch to the graphic interface from the command line.

Your help will be appreciated,,,

Did you run the command as root?
If you "sudo su" or "sudo startx" did you include the full path to startx?

Try: "locate startx" and use the path given. If it cant find it then you have different problem.

what happens when you type in "init 5"?

RH3 is getting pretty old. There was a major change in X a while back, you may predate the changes to X. Your RH subscription should cover this kind of thing.
