Sound is Scratchy

Hi, I use RedHat Linux 9 on a Dell Dimension 4300, and I have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card. My problem is that whenever I play sound on the computer (gAIM sounds, xmms music, etc.) the sound is very scratchy and staticy. Normally, my computer would be fine for a while, until finally some event must have occured and it got all scratchy. When this happened, I would just reboot and everything would be fine. But now, it's happening all the time and nothing seems to be fixing it. Any help would be appreciated.

Also - this is probably unrelated, but I'll say it just in case it is. Sometimes after a while on my computer, all flash movies would just stop having sound. And I would have to restart to get them to work again.

Now, this is interesting. I stopped typing for a minute to test and make sure that I was typing all the correct stuff. I just tried the music, and it is crystal clear. Regardless, its probably going to happen again. Any solutions?

Might sound silly, but you could try moving the card to a different pci slot. If you are getting crystal clear sound sometimes, then you can bet it's not the driver module. It sounds hardware/chipset/interrupt related to me.

And that might be fixed by moving to a new slot where the irq routing is different.
