sound detection


i have problem while detecting sound on my system. i installed redhat linux 9.
every thing was fine but problem was sound detection. system detected my sound card " via 8233cxxx_audio" but i couldn't here sound. i tried sound card detection but its of no use. so please help me to overcome this problem.

I am having the same problem, I have an IBM Thinkcentre A51p with a Pentium 4. I click soundcard detection and it doesnt detect my soundcard. When I browse /proc I can see the card though. How can I fix this? Thanks, Matt

try alsaconf in root

check alsamixer

then alsactl store
