runlevel question

when i start my computers, there seems to be a massive number of processes taking place, it took away pretty much all my physical memory (256). Can anyone tell me what processes i absolute don't need as a home-end user so that i can turn them off in my runlevel editor. Thanks!

just get a terminal then type setup (in RHL9) so u can system wide configuration... then select system services.... to configure just uncheck the different services... take another console if u have any doubts about a service then just read man page in the new console....

Although not Red Hat specific, Mandrakes list of services/daemons should give you sufficient info: ( one of the better resources around )
