Smile RS232 Multi I/O

Hi to All,

I have an 8 ports RS232 on RHEL 5.4.

In order to use it, I need to apply a patch; the suggested step are:

Quote:
1. Copy the patch file:
cp linux_2.6_8250_pci_patch /usr/src/{redhat,OpenLinux,turbo,packages,rpm ..}/drivers/serial

2. Cd to the RPM path:
cd /usr/src/{redhat,OpenLinux,turbo,packages,rpm ..}/drivers/serial

3. Update the driver code:
patch -b <linux_2.6_8250_pci_patch
(then the file in the directory will be updated, and also the original file will be copied as 8250_pci.c.orig)
At last:

Quote:
4. And then build the Kernel.
How can perform the step 4). Can anyone help me ?

Best Regards.

Gaetano

This is not something you should do by your self. You should ask for help. Since you pay subscription to Red Hat, I suggest you ask their support to give you the hand, or to ask them if they would compile the kernel for you. The main reason it that they might know something you do not know and save you from having problems. Also, they do not support home made kernels.
