Root's account has been disable by system administrator
I am an advanced computer user, but not in linux so please be gentle :)
I am having issues with my Root account. The machine was working fine the last time i used it. Now when I try to log into the linux machine with the root account, it says that the system administrator has disabled your account. I am not on a network and I am the administrator. I have not touch the account information for the Root. Is there an easy way to recover the root account? I am on Red Hat 9. |
Sure is, unless you have protected this way :) boot your system in a single-user mode, and you have root login (administrator rights). Then change the root password to make sure it works,
Code:
[root@localhost]# passwd |
You can try to acess your system with the rescue system contained on the CD/DVD.
