RHEL release roadmap
I am trying to understand Red Hats release cycle and roadmap, but I have had a difficult time finding any official release cycle or release roadmap. What I really want to know is when each release is planned (ie. 5.3, 5.4, 5.5, 6.0, etc...) and what features and kernels will be part of each release. I know that much of what is in Red Hat is derived first from Fedora, but I still don't understand the nuances of that relationship.

If anyone can get me started on finding the right authoritative place to find this information i would greatly appreciate it.

There are of course internal plannings at Red Hat, but they are not public.

Usually you will get most information from Red Hat representatives and from Red Hat Announcements from official mailing lists.

Red Hat partners sometimes get beta software or get access to tech previews that are normally available to the public on Red Hat servers but are not actively promoted.

A Red Hat release cylce is in between 12-18 months. Technologies that are introduced in Fedora eventually make their way upstream and are included in RHEL.
