RHEL onto Dell, Ethernet and Wireless not working

I'm a pretty novice user, I mostly use linux to run my python code, and I've wanted to get more into it lately, so I tried installing RHEL WS 7 on a dell pc (precision tower 3420). It installed with no issues. Now, however, there is absolutely no internet connection going on. I have an ethernet cord plugged in--no detection. There is an optiplex antenna attached. Nothing. I've been wrestling with this for days and would greatly appreciate some help.

Results from lspci:
  • Ethernet: Intel Corporation Ethernet Connection (2) I219-LM
  • Network Controller: Intel Corproation Wireless 8260

I tried installing the driver for I219-LM (this package: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/dow...r-for-FreeBSD-) and the only step I could complete in the install was extracting the files. I tried to install the man pages--permission denied. I tried 'make load': Makefile:3: *** missing separator. Stop. I then went into the make file, deleted any spaces and replaced with tabs--no difference.

Please, for the sake of my sanity and my productivity at work (it's my work desktop), help me fix this.

Run lspci -k to see if the driver is already loaded. FreeBSD is not Linux, BTW.

The output says no drivers are in use. For ethernet and network controllers, it only has subsystem info.

8086:15b7 works with e1000e, this has been in kernel for long time, have you tried
Code:
modprobe e1000e

Hey emerson,

I ended up googling the PCI ID and found a similar thread which was solved, and while following those instructions, I ended up receiving: sudo: apt-get command not found. After googling that issue (separate problem not related to having no internet) I about chucked the computer at the wall, created a live ubuntu stick, and now everything works. Less than 30 minutes to have a working pc. I don't get it, RH should have worked just fine, but after wrestling with it for days, I'm going to use ubuntu and be happy with it, despite wanting to give RH a whirl.

Thank you for taking the time to walk me through the issue.

I don't see how switching to Ubuntu solves OP's problems with networking in Red Hat. Certainly won't help future viewers of this thread.
